How therapy works and what to expect.
My job is to establish safety and trust, so that you feel comfortable sharing anything on your mind. I will listen with a compassionate and nonjudgemental ear, helping to notice patterns that emerge in your experiences.
Some people come to therapy for a short period of time with focused goals (e.g. to drink less alcohol, set boundaries, etc.), while others find long term therapy to feel more supportive as they navigate the human experience. You might even come for a focused goal and decide to stay beyond that as more things emerge.
My approach is rooted in person-centered, psychodynamic, and existential therapy. Helping clients cultivate self compassion is a big part of my work too.
Who benefits from therapy.
It's helpful for people who enjoy learning about themselves; feel stuck in a repetitive pattern; have trouble managing their emotions; and could benefit from more self compassion.
My areas of specialty include:
Substance use, depression, interpersonal conflict, relationship issues, self-esteem and shame, life transitions, codependency, and complex trauma
Session fees, insurance, and other important details.
If you do not plan to use insurance, individual sessions are $130.
I am in network with Aetna and Blue Cross Blue Shield.
Sessions are 50 minutes in length. I offer in person appointments on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and virtual appointments on Tuesday.
